New digital technology developments have the potential to radically improve the growth rates, efficiency and profitability that can be achieved on farms of all sizes across the arable, cattle, sheep, and intensive livestock sectors. These digital technologies linked to animals, machines, buildings, handling systems and embedded in crops will be the focus of this free one-day, practical workshop led by Opportunity North East (ONE) and delivered in partnership with SRUC and SAOS.
The workshop builds upon the previous ONE Agritech Conference held two years ago and is aimed at farmers and managers involved in all farming sectors and co-operatives, merchants and processors from throughout the supply chain. It will provide an update and unrivalled insight into the potential of the latest agri-food tech developments for the region and their direct application on farms, production units and further through the processing industry.
The workshop includes presentations, discussion, demos, Q&A and networking and involves:
- farmer speakers from across Scotland from all sectors – arable, cattle, sheep, intensive livestock – sharing how they are using new technology now and their plans;
- researchers on how new technology is being developed to improve efficiency on farm and follow through to the supply chain;
- technology providers and developers describing what’s available and how you can apply it to your business to develop your own tools and solutions; and
- a range of technology providers and support organisations that you can meet over lunch and coffee.
The workshop will also launch the two digital demonstrator farms that are part of the ONE Agritech Programme. The farms will trial new technology, demonstrate impact and best practice, and help farmers in the region to embrace digital technology and best utilise the data it can produce to enhance performance and sustainability.
ONE Agritech Programme
The ONE Agritech Programme for future farming technology demonstrates the practical application of digital solutions in arable and livestock enterprises to improve profits, meet the challenge of net-zero carbon emissions and take the drudgery out of statutory recording requirements.
The programme is supported by the North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund (NEERSF) and ONE is working with SAC Consulting and SAOS on its delivery.
