Converged Communication Solutions has been recognised at a national award ceremony for its commitment to supporting businesses in improving their cyber defences.

The IT and cyber security company, which has offices in Aberdeen and Inverness, was one of three finalists in the Cyber Resilience category at last night’s [Thursday, 24 February 2022] CeeD Industry Awards 2022.  Organised by CeeD, the Centre for Engineering Education and Development, the awards celebrated the achievements of Scottish businesses across 14 diverse categories.

CeeD is a national group of businesses and academics focused on improving operational efficiency in business across Scotland.  The organisation aims to foster business-to-business and cross sector learning and collaboration.

Among the other finalists was the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC), which is backed by the Scottish Government and Police Scotland.  Underlining CeeD’s ethos of collaborative working, Converged is a trusted partner of the SBRC and has worked in partnership with it on a number of events.

Recognition of commitment to cyber resilience

Converged was named on the short list for the Cyber Resilience award in recognition of its commitment to assisting businesses, charities and communities to strengthen their cyber defences and improve staff and public awareness of potential online threats.  This has included delivering around 20 free cyber awareness sessions to different organisations over the past two years, reaching more than 700 people across Scotland.

The firm has also guided over 100 businesses and organisations through the certification process for either the UK government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme or the IASME (Information Assurance for SMEs) Governance Standard, demonstrating their commitment to cyber security.  In addition, Converged has created a suite of bespoke staff awareness training modules that client employees can complete to increase their awareness and understanding of cyber threats.

Neil Christie, managing director, Converged Communication Solutions, said: “Being shortlisted in the Cyber Resilience category at the CeeD Industry Awards recognises the hard work undertaken by our team to support organisations across the country in strengthening their cyber defences.  Along with ensuring clients have robust cyber defences in place, they have gone out and engaged with various groups to educate them on the need to protect their digital lives and show them how they can do that.  Cyber security is an issue that impacts us all.

“We have made significant investments in developing our cyber security offering to best support customers in reducing the likelihood of a cyber breach, while also demonstrating the steps that they’ve taken to achieve that.  Due to the evolving nature of cyber-attacks, it is best to view cyber security as a process.  With the partnerships we have established with cyber tech companies, courses we have developed and the qualifications and certification statuses our team holds, we can assist clients on that journey.”
