- Converged joins growing list of consumer ISPs using CityFibre’s open access networks to offer full fibre services to consumers
14 January 2022, London: CityFibre has announced Converged Communication Solutions has joined its full fibre networks to deliver Gigabit home broadband services in Aberdeen. CityFibre is currently engaged in an up to £4 billion Gigabit City Investment Programme and Converged will be the latest consumer internet service provider (ISP) to become a customer.
Scottish ISP, Converged, will be joining CityFibre’s rapidly expanding national network, enabling it to offer residents dependable, ultra-fast broadband at competitive prices.
Neil Christie. Founder & Technical Director at Converged said “As one of CityFibre’s original launch partners in Aberdeen, Converged has been bringing full fibre services to local businesses since 2017. This announcement builds on our well-established partnership and allows us to offer the same gigabit capable services to residential households. With many homes putting even more pressure on already overburdened network connections, the option to upgrade comes at a perfect time.
“As a traditional B2B service provider, the residential market is a whole new audience for us. Or at least that’s what we would have said a year or two ago. But as the lines blur between the office and home, it’s become clear that residential demand for resilient and fast broadband is only going to increase. We’re excited to leverage our experience, technical capability and locally based customer service, to vastly improve poorly served areas within the city and allow individuals and families to work, learn, socialise and be entertained without restrictions.”
Allan McEwan, City Manager at CityFibre, said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming Converged to our network in Aberdeen. This year marks three years since construction of the Aberdeen network began – a £40 million private investment – and it is fantastic news for local residents to now have additional, competitive, choice when looking to connect to our Full Fibre network.
”Thousands of people in Aberdeen are already enjoying the benefits of Full Fibre on our network, particularly at a time when many of us need high quality, reliable home broadband to work, learn and stay connected with family and friends. For CityFibre, adding a new ISP provides us with even more motivation to bring this future-proof network to as many homes as possible, as soon as possible, ensuring they can access the world-class connectivity that they need.”
